 It is worth noting that this drug refers to prescription drugs. During the use of the drug, Clonazepam has a sedative, antiepileptic effect, it helps to eliminate convulsive syndrome, shows muscle relaxant properties. It should be noted that Klonopin is not a drug, but refers to potent psychotropic drugs.

Indications for use

 The Sedative drug is prescribed in the following cases:

The anxiolytic effect of Klonopin is due to the weakening of feelings of fear, anxiety, as well as emotional tension.

The sedative effect is manifested due to the action of the active substance of the pills on the thalamus and certain areas of the brain.

The drug increases presynaptic inhibition, promotes the relief of convulsive syndrome. In addition, the drug has a positive effect on patients suffering from generalized and focal forms of epilepsy.

When the spinal, afferent, and polysynaptic inhibitory pathways slow down, the central muscle relaxant effect is observed.

 Contraindications and precautions

It is not recommended to carry out treatment with Klonopin, which does not have a narcotic effect in case of:

• Comatose state
• Myasthenia gravis.
• Pregnancy, breastfeeding
• Diagnosis of respiratory failure
• Depressed states and states of shock
• Signs of depression of the respiratory center

 If you want to prevent the manifestation of epileptic seizures, you should switch to other drugs with a similar effect, the change of drugs should be carried out gradually. It should be borne in mind that the probability of sedation and apathy increases, it is necessary to monitor the patient’s reactions. It is forbidden to take alcoholic beverages during treatment. If there is a long-term therapy, it is necessary to monitor the main blood parameters. When the drug is taken during pregnancy, a child may experience the occurrence of drug dependence, which is fraught with the development of the so-called withdrawal syndrome immediately after childbirth. During treatment, it is not recommended to drive vehicles and work with precise mechanisms, as it is possible to reduce the concentration of attention and the speed of psychomotor reactions.

Side effects and overdose

 When taking Klonopin, the following side symptoms may develop:

• Genitourinary system: decreased sexual desire, development of dysmenorrhea, violation of urine outflow, development of kidney pathologies
• Gastrointestinal tract: signs of jaundice, the occurrence of heartburn, increased activity of liver enzymes, diarrhea, loss of interest in food, a feeling of dryness in the oral cavity
• Respiratory system: inhibition of the functioning of the respiratory center, possible development of bronchial obstruction syndrome.
• NS: catalepsy, constant fatigue and lethargy, decreased motor activity, ataxia; rarely – the development of depression, deterioration of information perception, the occurrence of a state of euphoria, severe headaches, tremor, mood changes, myasthenia gravis, the occurrence of paradoxical reactions, weakness.

 Klonopin may develop addiction and the formation of drug dependence. Withdrawal syndrome may occur if you abruptly stop taking the drug.

 When taking increased doses, the patient may experience:

• Signs of paradoxical arousal
• Cardiac arrhythmia up to cardiac arrest
• Decrease in the speed of reflex reactions
• Inhibition of the functioning of the respiratory center.
