SandyGroup Fitness Instructor Sandy loves working with a variety of clients. She is motivated to help any person whether new to fitness, wanting to maintain a healthy lifestyle or wanting to push their fitness level to a new height. Her passion for fitness comes from over 25 years of involvement and participation in a variety of aspects of the fitness industry. She has a BS from George Mason in Marketing. She has her fitness certifications through ACE, AFAA and AEA. She is certified to teach Spin, Pilates, TRX and group fitness classes. Sandy actively competes in running races and did her first Triathlon in September. JennGroup Fitness Instructor While studying Physiology and Neurobiology in college, Jen pursued fitness part-time and obtained her ACE and AFAA group exercise certification. She furthered her expertise adding several disciplines to her resume including Kickboxing, Yoga, BOSU, Jump Rope, PowerFlex, TRX, Pilates and Cycling. She eventually became a corporate fitness director and led AFAA certifications in Yoga. She has played ice hockey for 18 years including 4 years at Liberty University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. After deciding to switch from physical therapy to a fitness career, she began her Master’s degree in Exercise Science and Wellness at Old Dominion University which she will complete in the spring of 2015. RebekahYoga Instructor Rebekah is warm hearted, playful yoga instructor with a passion for teaching. She found yoga in the summer of 2010 during a transitional period in her life. After moving from Atlanta to Norfolk, she completed her 200hr Teacher Training under Jennie Cohen (YogaWorks) at The Yoga Room in Ghent. She believes that yoga is a daily reminder to cherish the present moment on and off the mat. Expect her classes to leave you feeling centered and alive! |
TaraGroup Fitness Instructor Studying Health and Wellness at Eastern Connecticut University, Tara discovered yoga at a very young age and began developing her own practice while understanding the connection between mind, body, and breath. In 2003, she had the pleasure of working with Lex Gillian from the Yoga Institute to become 200-hour RYT certified. In 2007, she had the honor of traveling to a mountaintop in Costa Rica to attend a Yoga Conference and Retreat at Panacea de La Montana. She believes in the importance of being aware of different cultures, having compassion, and developing a global perspective. Tara attends Yoga Journal Conferences throughout the year to explore yoga further. She is deeply inspired by the teachings of Seane Corn, Baron Baptiste, Erich Schiffmann and Shiva Rea. Tara wants to make yoga accessible to people from all walks of life, creating thoughtful, balanced practices for beginners as well as advanced students. JustinPersonal Trainer / Group Fitness Instructor After 15 years of wrestling in New Mexico, Justin has now transitioned from an athlete to a fitness professional, obtaining his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Old Dominion University, and currently working on his Master’s in Human Movement Science. Justin is able to meet the demands and goals of any client or fitness class with RESULTS! KevinPersonal Trainer Kevin has a unique passion for fitness. With twenty years of physical training experience, he is well rounded in the movements and limitations of the body. He played athletic and competitive sports for many years up to the collegiate level, with a focus in endurance and strength building. After taking the step to turn his hobby into a career, he developed a desire to help others succeed in reaching their goals the way he has. He encourages people to live a healthier and more active lifestyle through fitness. As a certified personal trainer by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Kevin specializes in strength training, body conditioning, and weight loss programs. He is currently working towards additional certifications and has become increasingly interested in the nutritional aspect of fitness. Kevin trains and accepts clients from all fitness levels. While not at the gym he enjoys cycling, golf, and surfing. |
